Mentoring in the Arts
This is a past event.
The right mentoring relationship can shape your career – but how can you make a mentorship work for both people involved? This panel will discuss the benefits and shortfalls of formal and informal mentoring, the capacity of mentoring to build diversity, and identify and strengthen leadership capacity, and the ways in which mentoring forms career pathways in the arts.
The panelists will engage in a robust practical conversation about what mentorship can and should look like, and how to go about being a good mentor and mentee in the arts. They’ll also touch on some common mistakes people make in mentoring relationships, how these might be successfully navigated, and as the high and lows of offering to mentor someone else.
At what point in your career is mentoring most valuable? Where or who might you approach to set one up? How can you make the most of your mentorship?
