Todd Fuller
Todd Fuller graduated from Sydney’s National Art School in 2010, since then he has established himself as a dynamic artist, curator and educator.
Fuller’s practice integrates sculpture, animation, drawing, performance and painting to construct layered, multi-disciplinary narratives. His works construct multi-layered narratives which explore ideas of commonality and difference, power, gender and place. Fuller has exhibited across Australia and abroad including the United States, Rome, South Korea, Bangladesh, England and Singapore and has undertaken international residencies to the Cité International Des Arts in Paris and the British School at Rome. He has also undertaken domestic residencies to Bundanon, Grafton, Hill End and Blacktown. Fuller was awarded an honourable mention at the 15th Asian Art Biennale in 2013 was appointed Art Fellow at Sydney Grammar School in the same year. In 2016 Fuller presented a site specific installation with Tasmanian artist Karin Chan as a part of Dark MoFo. In 2018 he was the winner of the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award at Grafton Regional Art Gallery.
Notable works by Fuller includes ‘With whom I was united by every tie’ a hand drawn animation telling the story of Captain Moonlite and his partner in love and death James Nesbit, ‘the unite porject’ an ongoing participatory animation project which acted as a counter plebiscite in 2017 and ‘Billy’s Swan’ a performance animation in response to the plebiscite. He was also commissioned to create ‘Songs of Love and Protest’ a live drawing performance in collaboration with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir in conjunction with the opening of the museum of Love and Protest for the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and lesbian Mardi Gras.
With his interests also spanning curatorship and arts production, Fuller is currently the Gallery and Curatorial assistant at Waverly Council. He has previously acted as a seasonal lecturer at the Whitehouse Institute of Design, Co-Director and Curator for Sculpture in the Vineyards, Education and Touring Manager for dLux Media Arts and the Events and Education and Online co-ordinator for the 18th Biennale of Sydney. In 2016 Fuller co-curated Just Draw with Lisa Woolfe. =
